It all began in the mid 1890’s with George Fredrick Smith and son’s quest to bring beautiful papers to the commercial artists and printers in the UK.
Following an exploratory journey to America an exclusive business partnership was born between GFSmith and the leading paper mill The Strathmore Paper Company - a specialist manufacturer of exquisite fine papers. A flourishing business began and due to hard work, single focus and a creative diligence - one that thrives to this day and beyond.
It seems such qualities are shared by other family members as at the same time in the mid1890’s and from the same offices, GF Smith’s brother and nephews began their now internationally successful company Smith and Nephew - known for their pharmaceutical products. Both companies continue to operate from their respective headquarters in Hull.
GFSmith are still proudly independently owned, it’s 150 loyal workforce - famed for their diligence in ‘going the extra mile’ offer an unrivalled portfolio of the highest quality papers manufactured by the world’s leading Paper Mills - all this is backed by a bespoke service acknowledged amongst other paper suppliers as being ‘second to none’.
